[Hinews] ULANBATAAR, Mongolia — Ewha Womans University Medical Center, a leading South Korean healthcare institution, announced on August 13 the successful completion of its 12th overseas medical mission in Mongolia, providing care to a record 2,036 patients over an eight-day period from July 25 to August 1. The mission, conducted in Ulaanbaatar’s Bayangol district and the western Bayan-Ölgii region, marked the highest number of patients treated in a single year by the medical team.

The volunteer delegation comprised 14 medical professionals and staff from Ewha, including Dr. Kyung-ho Kang, director of the International Medical Affairs Division and a surgeon at Ewha Seoul Hospital, Dr. Hee-sung Lee, deputy director and a surgeon at Ewha Mokdong Hospital, as well as specialists in urology (Dr. Hana Yoon), orthopedics (Dr. Jang-won Park), and obstetrics-gynecology (Dr. Yoon-hwan Kim). They were joined by 16 local Mongolian healthcare workers, fostering a collaborative effort to deliver essential medical services.

Since launching its Mongolia medical missions in 2009, Ewha has provided care to 14,343 patients, solidifying its commitment to global health outreach. The program began in 2011 at the invitation of H. Bolormaa, the former first lady of Mongolia, and has continued annually, except during the COVID-19 pandemic from 2020 to 2022.
Dr. Kyung-ho Kang emphasized the significance of the 15-year initiative, stating, “Our sustained medical missions in Mongolia reflect Ewha’s founding principles of service and sharing. We remain dedicated to advancing global health and showcasing South Korea’s exceptional medical expertise.”

This year’s mission underscores Ewha’s ongoing efforts to bridge healthcare gaps in underserved regions while promoting cross-cultural medical collaboration.
