[Hinews] SEOUL, South Korea — Inje University Ilsan Paik Hospital has repositioned itself as a cutting-edge smart hospital by incorporating advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technologies across its medical services, according to hospital officials. Following a recent renovation, the hospital upgraded its physical infrastructure and deployed AI-powered diagnostic systems to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of patient care.

In the emergency department, AI systems analyze computed tomography (CT) scans in real time to detect signs of cerebral hemorrhage or cardiovascular emergencies. The AI alerts medical staff to critical findings even before radiologists have finalized their reports. In inpatient wards, AI continuously monitors vital signs to detect early indicators of cardiac arrest, allowing for rapid intervention.

The hospital has adopted several AI tools developed in South Korea, all approved by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Key systems include DeepCAS (cardiac arrest prediction), Aview NeuroCAD (cerebral hemorrhage detection), HeartMediPlus (coronary blood flow analysis), and ECG Buddy (electrocardiogram interpretation).

Beyond diagnostics, the hospital has also introduced a digital, patient-centered platform enabling users to schedule appointments, make payments, and access medical records online. Test results and prescriptions are conveniently available via smartphone.

“AI technologies are revolutionizing healthcare by enhancing diagnostic precision and speeding up clinical decisions,” said Dr. Won-joo Choi, director of Ilsan Paik Hospital. “By integrating expert clinicians with AI, we aim to reduce patient burden and improve overall care quality—realizing the vision of a truly smart hospital.”

The hospital plans to expand its use of AI and digital technologies, aiming to establish a new standard for treating critically ill patients in northwestern Gyeonggi Province.
