[Hinews] On September 12, Dr. Pramod Joshi, chief of the Nepal Health Research Council, visited Kangwon National University Hospital’s Regional Maternal and Child Healthcare Center and the Safe Childbirth Infrastructure Project team in Chuncheon, South Korea, to discuss maternal health initiatives.

During the visit, representatives from Kangwon National University Hospital, Gangwon Province, and the Nepal Health Research Council outlined their respective roles and potential areas for collaboration. The hospital presented its “Safe Childbirth Infrastructure Project,” aimed at improving maternal and neonatal care. The Nepalese delegation outlined their organization’s structure and resource allocation, while Gangwon Province introduced the “Gangwon-KOICA Training Program,” a capacity-building initiative supported by the Korea International Cooperation Agency.

Following the discussions, Dr. Joshi toured the hospital’s facilities and its IT-based obstetric care system, expressing keen interest in its advanced technology. “I hope this cutting-edge system can be introduced in Nepal to ensure safer deliveries for expectant mothers,” he said.
The Kangwon Regional Maternal and Child Healthcare Center, in partnership with Gangwon Province, is currently implementing the “Nepal Healthcare Professional Capacity Building Program” to enhance maternal health outcomes in Nepal.

The Nepal Health Research Council serves as the country’s primary body for coordinating and allocating national health research resources.
