The Pneumonia Appropriateness Assessment, initiated by HIRA in 2014, evaluates the quality of pneumonia diagnosis and treatment across South Korean medical institutions to enhance patient care standards. The latest assessment, spanning October 2023 to March 2024, reviewed 599 hospitals nationwide treating adult inpatients aged 18 and older.

Key evaluation metrics included pulse oximetry testing rates, use of severity assessment tools, antibiotic administration within eight hours of hospital arrival, readmission rates, and mortality rates.
Dr. Young Uh, the hospital’s director, attributed the success to the dedication of its medical staff. “Our team’s commitment has driven this achievement,” he said. “We remain dedicated to providing high-quality medical care to our community.”
